Iterative or phase based project delivery - avoids big failures

I am a big fan of phase based or iterative delivery. I have been part of two large successful projects which adopted iterative model. I have also been part of many projects which adopted Water Fall SDLC. When I compare how things panned out in each of those projects it is very evident to me that for a large sized project Hybrid Iterative model is the most suitable SDLC.
